Making Space for Confidence: Beauty, Fashion, and You
For the last couple of months, I’ve been posting blogs to my website as part of a college class I’ve been attending. The experience has been rewarding, giving me a chance to explore different ways to express myself while tying my passion for beauty and fashion into meaningful conversations about confidence and self-care.
As the semester ends, I find myself reflecting on how decluttering my life mirrors my approach to beauty and self-care. Just like clearing out old boxes, it’s about letting go of what no longer serves you—whether it’s skincare products, clothes, or habits—and making room for the things that truly make you feel good.
Redefining Beauty: It’s About Happiness, Not Just Looks
Beauty isn’t about the clothing you wear or the trends you follow—it’s about happiness. It’s about feeling good in your skin and letting that joy radiate outward. Clothing, makeup, and self-care routines are tools, not the source of beauty. They can boost confidence and help you express yourself, but true beauty starts within. When you dress in a way that feels authentic to you, it’s not about impressing others—it’s about honoring yourself and finding joy in the process. That’s the kind of beauty worth celebrating at every stage of life.
Facing the Weight of Fear
This blog explores my emotional journey of understanding the deeper reasons behind my weight and the habits that have held me back. I share how reconnecting with myself and addressing past imprints has been key to moving forward with intention. This isn’t just about weight loss—it’s about building strength, self-trust, and habits that support the woman I’m becoming.
Facing Fear and Embracing Myself: My Journey to Acceptance
Fear held me back for so long—fear of failure, of being seen, of not being enough. But through resilience and self-discovery, I’ve learned that to help others embrace themselves, I must first accept and celebrate my own journey. This is my story of choosing the lasting road, despite the fear.
My First Time Using a Sewing Machine
There I was, barely tall enough to reach the sewing machine pedal, sitting at an old table with my mother’s 1960s sewing machine whirring in front of me. The exposed drive belt mesmerized me as it spun, and I couldn’t resist trying to touch it—just once. But my mom’s warning stopped me in my tracks: ‘Do not touch that, or you’ll lose a finger!’ I spent the rest of my first sewing lesson wide-eyed, wrapped in goggles and winter gloves, convinced the needle might break and fly out at me. By the end of that day, though, I’d learned something about sewing—and about facing fears one stitch at a time.
Moving Forward Through Fear: My Journey into Beauty
Stepping into a new career isn’t easy, especially when self-doubt and imposter syndrome seem to tag along for the ride. As I work toward my esthetician license, I often feel the weight of fear and wonder if I’m truly meant to be here. But I know I’m on the right path because this work feels like home. Moving forward through fear is hard, but I’m learning that courage isn’t about having no fear—it’s about moving forward in spite of it. Every small step is bringing me closer to my dreams and to the people I hope to help along the way.
The Jealousy Signal: How Neglecting My Journey Fuels the Green-Eyed Monster
Jealousy is my 'dirty' little secret emotion. It shows up in the worst way too. When I see someone achieving success, especially someone who once played at my level, I get jealous—whether they’re a friend or a stranger. The thing is, it doesn’t always happen. It’s kind of unpredictable that way. After years of living with this, I’ve realized something: the green-eyed monster rears its ugly head when I’m neglecting my own journey and experiences. That’s right—if I’m not tending to my own garden, I get jealous of those who are. Hypocritical? Yes. It could easily make me feel small if I let it.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal condition that affects a significant number of women worldwide. One of the most noticeable and distressing symptoms for some women with PCOS is excessive facial hair growth, particularly in the beard area.
