Making Space for Confidence: Beauty, Fashion, and You
For the last couple of months, I’ve been successful at posting a blog to my website. The posts went live on Mondays because they were part of a college class I’ve been attending. The semester itself was such a fun and rewarding experience. The class, focused on multimodal communications, really helped me explore different ways to express myself, including how I want to connect with others through beauty and self-care.
Having a blog where I can speak my mind has been a dream of mine for many years. It’s also been a way to tie my passion for beauty and fashion into meaningful conversations about confidence and self-expression. Now, I finally feel like I know what I’m doing when constructing conversations through my blog. Of course, I’m not the best, but that’s the beauty of owning your space—you don’t have to be perfect. It’s about creating a space where we can all embrace our flaws while celebrating the things that make us feel beautiful.
Another dream of mine is to launch and sustain a YouTube channel focused on tutorials and tips for skincare and style. I imagine creating content like “How to Build a Skincare Routine That Works for You” or “Declutter Your Closet to Discover Your Style,” but I know I’m not quite ready to take that step yet. For now, my blog is where I’m nurturing that dream.
As the semester ended, I found myself with more free time than I’ve had in a long while. With no extra coursework, I’ve been using this time to go through boxes of items packed away for years, rediscovering memories and reevaluating what I want to keep. This process reminded me of how decluttering your space mirrors the way we approach beauty and self-care—it’s about letting go of what no longer serves you and focusing on what truly makes you feel good.
Dusting off these items has inspired me to think about what I hold onto in my beauty and fashion routines as well. Do I really need that skincare product that doesn’t work for me anymore? Should I keep those clothes that don’t make me feel confident or comfortable? Some items, like a favorite lipstick shade or a cozy sweater, are worth keeping because they spark joy. But others—whether it’s a pair of shoes that don’t fit or a skincare product that’s expired—are better off being let go.
This process of decluttering has reminded me of the importance of aligning your space, your routines, and your beauty practices with who you are today. It’s also about creating room for new opportunities—whether it’s finding the perfect serum for your skin type or finally investing in a wardrobe that feels like you.
So, as I clear out my old boxes, I’m also clearing space in my beauty and fashion routines for things that truly matter. Letting go of what no longer fits, both literally and figuratively, feels like a step toward becoming the best version of myself.
